| | The Knife | ] | I went to see Sabrepulse play at the Ringside, it was awesome. Ringside really isn't the place to play if you use something other then guitars and acoustic drums. Putting a laptop through the PA seemed a little tricky for the soundman, I really don't know why it is all audio. Next time have to get him playing at a proper place with a real PA. Hopefully next time I will be playing along side him as well, RC all the way boss. I've had a full day to recover and I still feel drained from it. Don't care though. Nothing much has happened in my world outside music. Don't really have one to be honest. Made some songs, did some stuff.

| My band needs a band name |
[Jun. 15th, 2005|11:00 pm] |
Hello, Bob here. As some of you know my band has no name as of yet, and we have finally decided to do something about it, so if anybody has any ideas post them here or go to the bass players Live Journal thread of the same topic which is here.
You might be the lucky one and get to tell your family that you named the band.
Here are some of the good names so far.
Robot and the Tigernaut - The word Tigernaut is awesome, so maybe try to work it in somewhere Tigernaut - That was another idea. You see, we are trying really hard. The Starscreams - Transformers are both big and clever. Looking through the other names this seems to be the only one that is any good.

Update: Later that night
Thank you for all you comments. Very sweet of you. Although GonkCat hasn't left a message yet. That will be good. It has all hit me now. I have a feeling a three year band friendship with Sam has gone now, and in the two hours I spent at Spiders somebody stopped me and told me he loves the Lauwine album and he still listens to it. He started listening to it just after he split with his girlfriend. That gave me such a strange feeling. Songs I wrote, getting listened to, and loved. Not just liked which is all I want. People still talk about them. How so very awesome.
I felt sick. I came home.

| | Paperclips | ] | Dear Lord British, Batlin was causing trouble down at the pool. He was using his Fellowship staff to knock little kids off the diving boards. One of these boys was Spark, a very dear friend to me. I felt it was my place to do something about this evil man. So I climbed out of the pool and walked up to Batlin in all my Speedos glory. "Batlin? Do you really feel this is the best way to spend your time at the pool?" I said. "Yes I do" replied Batlin. Turns out he was right. I spent the rest of my time at the pool hitting kids with a pillow case full of candle holders. |

| | Interpol - Antics | ] | I got back from playing at The White Room, were we are supposed to be the owners favorite band. We played a fantastic set, not as good as at The Welly, but still pretty damn good. Nice sound. It was the owners birthday, he asked us to play because we are one of his favorite bands in Hull. We were excited. Should be fun. A man likes us, asks us to play his birthday party, what could go wrong. We didn't go wrong. We went very right. The sound was lovely. You could hear the vocals. We moved, we danced, we played out little hearts out.
Paul "This is Gloria Mundi, give them a big hand" Clap clap clap. Bob "GLORY TO THE WORLD" Chugga chugga twinkle twinkle. The song plays. We sing and we shout and we rock and we dance. Song ends... ... ... ... ... Sam "This next songs is I Came To Warn You" Click click click click song starts.
Nobody clapped. Not at all, silence. Total silence. Not even the owner clapped. Or the kid earlier on the stopped me to tell me he liked our band. What happened? Why? I don't understand? How can people be so rude? It has made me so angry. If it wasn't for the Ringside gig on the 11th with City Ghosts and Silence In The Streets I would have lost my total faith of music lovers in Hull. I don't get it. Yes people in Hull are difficult to make to dance, but to not even clap polity to a band that was invited to play is just so very rude. Even if you don't like a band you still clap, the fact they are on the stage playing is something. Something else that actually saddened me rather than anger me was that they had karaoke on, no problems there. The owner and his daughter got up and sang together, which was nice if not a little wierd. People clapped. Happy so far. Paul stepped off the stage and the daughter sang the next song on her own. She went a little out of key, but what does that matter, she sang on her own. Plus she was pregnant, so I am guessing she wasn't drinking. That is quite a brave thing to do. She finishs the song. "Did the crowd cheer for her?" I hear you ask. No. Only me and Sam clapped. At her own fathers birthday party. He didn't even clap. Not once. Not a kiss on the forehead. Nothing.
I am pretty much pissed off with what people are like. I haven't lost my love of music, that would take something so very huge, and I am going to keep on playing and writing. Just people in Hull. In my old band we played a gig out of the city, nobody knew who we were, it was our first time there. Everybody went crazy and danced, it was such an amazing sight and feeling it led to us playing better than we played. I love this city. One of the few people that actually does. My band isn't hardcore so we get looked down on, my band isn't metal so we get looked down on, my band isn't indie garage rock so we get looked down on. Apparently we are emo. "You emos don't like ska" What? I. Don't. Understand. Why not ask me first before saying I don't like Ska. How am I emo? I listen to things that go beep. I listen to old computer music taken from C64 computer games. I play keyboards in a food-core band. I am part of a synth pop band, of which the drummer plays an electronic drum kit. I would like to say now that I have no problem with hardcore, ska ,metal, indie, garage rock or emo. Not all of it is my thing. I tend to dislike individual people and groups rather then a musical genre. Music shouldn't have genres, that is the problem. I like playing gigs with Killer Of Saints and Black Tie Knife Fight and Silence In The Streets and City Ghosts and 2nd Sky, because they are lovely people. I don't care that all the genres are all over the place and that we don't really fit into what they are all playing. We just like having fun and playing our songs to people. If you are going to go to a gig please get there for the first band, if you can't, no worries. But you never know, you may like the support band that you have never heard of. Don't just turn up when your friends band is playing. That isn't how music works. I am not telling anybody to go to gigs, you don't have to, if you don't feel like it then don't. I don't mind. Just don't turn up to see the headline band. Especially if you haven't seen or heard the bands that are playing before hand. These are the bands that would like all the support they can get. Music is something special.
I didn't expect all this to come out. I was only going to mention the White Room incident. Shame only a few people are going to actually end up reading this post. I think it is full of mistakes and repetition, but I don't care. I did my rant. I don't often do something like this, but it was about music. That is something I love.
I am just having such a wierd time right now. I'm happy. My life is great. Both my personal and public life are fantastic. Just things are strange.
Will this post suffice? |

| | The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We Are Gone | ] | Dear Lord British, Great news everybody. A new Tajfel Nipple album is currently being written and recorded. The plan is to have ten tracks, all of which will be mediocre or above. A cover song has been decided upon, which only a few people know about. I will give you a clue. Na na na na na na na na/na na na na na na na na/na na na na na na na na. That is all I am going to give away. It will be nothing like any old Tajfel stuff. So you all better be excited. It is currently crazy 'o' clock in the morning. I want to sleep. I have things to do tomorrow/later today.
One last thing. This is a message just for Bethany. Your new picture scares me. Stop peeping at me.
Love from Roybot +++ |
